Badges and ranks serve different purposes
Permanent badges recognise a member's history or trusted community role. Activity ranks are calculated automatically from points earned by participating in useful community activities.
Compact badge chips appear beside or below usernames. When a member has several visible badges, GrownMT shows the first two and places the complete list in a small expandable menu.
Permanent badges
Founding Member
Automatically granted to members who registered within the first six months after GrownMT launched. This earned badge is permanent.
Early Supporter
Automatically granted to members who registered within the first year after launch. This earned badge is permanent.
Moderator and Administrator
These badges identify trusted staff roles. They may remain publicly visible for clarity and community safety.
Activity ranks
Ranks progress automatically as a member's active point total grows. Thresholds may be adjusted as the community develops.
- New Grower: 0 points
- Community Member: 25 points
- Cultivator: 75 points
- Veteran Grower: 200 points
- Master Grower: 500 points
- Community Pillar: 1,000 points
How points are earned
- Create a thread: +2 points
- Create a diary: +5 points
- Add a weekly diary update: +3 points once per diary week
- Receive a like: +1 point
- Receive a follower: +2 points
- Helpful answer marked by the original poster: +5 points when this feature becomes available
Each real activity has one point-history event. Repeating the same action cannot create duplicate points.
Removed activity and point history
If a like or follow is removed, its points stop counting. If a thread, diary, diary update, or other point-related content is removed, directly related points also stop counting. Re-adding a valid like or follow restores the original event instead of creating a duplicate.
Removed events remain in private point history for consistency and auditing.
Control what appears publicly
Members can use Profile Settings to show or hide earned permanent badges and their activity rank. Hiding an item does not remove it from the account or change points. Members cannot display badges they have not earned.
Ranking FAQ
Can I lose a Founding Member badge?
No. Founding Member is permanently earned when the registration date qualifies. You may hide it from public display.
Can I choose my activity rank?
No. Your rank is calculated automatically from your active point total. You may hide the rank publicly.
Why are staff badges always visible?
Moderator and Administrator badges may remain visible so members can clearly identify trusted staff.
